Shopping Skills

Today was my birthday present to myself. (Actually the yearly reminder of constant aging was a week ago, but that is only a technicality.) I was able to go clothes shopping - FOR MYSELF - without a 4 year old asking if we were ready to go home yet.

With that said, I was then able to hit stores like Marshall's and JCPenny for some major clearance rack savings. What a productive day.

I started this morning by calling to make sure my mom was up, out of bed and getting ready for this birthday adventure. Only to be greeted by my dad and the pathetic puppy like sounds of wanting to tag of long. (Of course he is always welcome. I personally think he likes to shop for clothes more than I do.) So around mid-morning the 3 of us head of.

We make our way to Marshall's and i started with the dresses. I had a master plan of how I was going to attack these massive amounts of clothes that are only separated by size and "generic" styles. So back to the dresses..... I tried on a few dresses and they fit and were smaller sizes (Yeah) but I wasn't in love with them. On to the next. We proceed to skirts, tops and blouses and shorts! So for anyone out there who doesn't know me - I have not worn a pair of shorts in so many years, I couldn't honestly tell you. I find a few items (2 pairs of shorts and 1 top) and move on to the next store.

JCPenny trip number 1 is next. I find some great stuff for Tony's fathers day present and head to the Disney store for Jase's birthday present. Here is where we have a problem. Apparently - the Disney store in Mid Rivers Mall is going out of business and there are no Lighting McQueen Pit Crew costumes. OH CRAP. I leave and grumble the whole way to Sears, Famous Footwear and Macy's. DONE with the mall at this point!

Next stop - JCPenny trip number 2. I know this sounds ridiculous. Why not get it all done at the first store. But the women's department at the new Dardenne Prairie location is so much nicer. Here is where I find my 4 shirts and 1 pair of jeans for the wonderful price of $47.

At this point all three of us are about beat, but I want to make a Famous Footwear stop number 2 to check out the clearance rack at the DP location as well. Jackpot - 2 smokin hot pair of shoes. Well, 1 smoking hot pair of black sandals and one pair of white slides to be honest.

DONE shopping. Off to home we go and I check in with my fellow shoppers to make sure they are still hanging in there with me. (Maybe they didn't realize this was a NO Kid marathon. My dad my not sound so pathetic the next time I venture out - huh.)

Shopping skills were refined today. Thanks mom for making me the bargain shopper that I am. I even found the Lighting McQueen suit online tonight!

That will teach Ronny to tag along. I bet the next time he thinks twice before he commits to going. I am very proud of your shopping talents!
